Larry James Spelts, age 68, Passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at his residence.

Born on August 25, 1947, in Tacoma, Washington, he was a son of the late James Michael Spelts and Claire Dale Houchin Spelts.

He was married to Judith Cullor Turvey on October 5, 2012.  He also did several side jobs, such as splitting fire wood, roofing ect.

He served in the Army in Vietnam where he was wounded when he was blown out of a jeep and shattered his ankle.  He was the recipient of the purple heart.

One of his passions in life was his flower gardens , which he lined with large geodes that were found on our property.

Another passion was riding motorcycles. He won 2nd place twice at Datona Beach FL for his dresser motorcycle. He also won an award at Miami Beach, FL. He was a member of HOG (Harley Motorcycle Owners).  He loved working on cars with friend and producing fire wood to use and sell. He had a band where he played guitar for a while after he got out of the Army. He graduated from high school and then became a certified CNA where he worked at a nursing home in Ocala, FL for at least 15 years. He was in the movie "Running Cool".

He is survived by his wife, Judie, children Travis, Chantell, and Larry Jr. Spelts of Liberty, Tina Gleason of Las Vegas Nevada .His brothers, Billy and Steve; and sisters Debbie, Linnie , and Kathy.

Larry was a loving man, who lived for his children.

He was preceded in death by his father James Michael Spelts and his mother Claire Houchins Spelts.

His service was held on Sat., Jan. 23, 2016 at the Eckley Community Church with Rev Nellie Swale officiating.  His burial is in Yuma Cemetery in Yuma, CO. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
