Kenneth Charles Lyon
October 30, 1928 ~ October 26, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years OldKenneth Charles Lyon was born on October 30, 1928 to Ola and Opal (Wilkinson) Lyon in Stratton, Nebraska. Kenneth passed away on October 26, 2017 at the Yuma Life Care Center in
Yuma, Colorado at the age of 88.
Kenneth married Bonnie Weeks on June 18, 1950. Kenneth was a Corporal in the United States Army from 1952 until 1960. Kenneth served in Korea during the war.
Kenneth had an agriculture background he farmed and raised cattle along with being a truck driver. Kenneth enjoyed coyote hunting, horses and parades.
During an ice storm, Kenneth was driving a school bus to Burlington. The roads were very icy. He put the bus in the ditch to avoid a head-on collision. Luckily none of the kids were hurt during the accident. The car that he avoided went ahead to crash and the driver did not survive. He was honored with a Safe Driver Award by the Colorado State Patrol.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Ola and Opal Lyon. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Bonnie; his son, Rod Lyon and wife, Lorinda, grandchildren, Angela Jacobs and Joshua Lyons; daughter, Peggy Howell and husband, Scott, grandchildren, Wes Howell, Jamie Howell, Heather OHRI Camberlin and Hannah, Howell and son, Todd Lyon along with many other relatives and friends.
The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Dave McQuisten officiating. The Inurnment was at the Yuma Cemetery. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
