Jacob Daniel Rhoades was born January 16th, 1929 to Lewis and Clara Imhof-Rhoades at the Yuma Community Hospital.  He was the oldest of four boys.

He attended school at Lone Star, graduating from high school in 1947.  Jake was united in marriage to Evelyn Leighton on June 20th,1947 at the Methodist Church in Fleming, Colorado.  Together they raised five children.  

Jake began working at the age of 16 driving the school bus for his fellow students at Lone Star.  After graduation, Jake and Evelyn resided at the family farm where Jake specialized in pork production and dry land farming.  Pork production was Jake’s passion in his earlier years.  Later in life, Jake began working for 

Selma Trucking.  He very much enjoyed traveling around the country having the opportunity to explore new and different life styles.  He continued farming throughout his life and was very proud of his accomplishments.

Jake was preceded in death by his beloved wife Evelyn in August of this year.  They had just celebrated 69 years of marriage.  By his parents, Lewis and Clara Rhoades and Delmar and Coryl Leighton.  His infant brother, his brother Raymond and sister-in-laws Margaret and Peggy Rhoades.  His beloved son Dean, grandson Curtis, as well as his son-in-law John Good.

Left to mourn his passing are his children Mary Rhoades of Johnstown, Colorado, Carolyn Good of Loveland, Colorado, Sally Albert and husband Vic of Athol, Idaho and Dot Longmore and husband Mike of Fort Collins, Colorado.  Seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. His brothers Dennis and wife Carolyn, Merle and wife Lynda, many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.

Jake passed away at Yuma District Hospital on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at the age of 87. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, Yuma Colorado with Pastor Sharon Strauss officiating. Interment followed at the Yuma Cemetery.  Baucke Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
