Evelyn Norma Krogstad was born on March 7, 1929, in Sisseton, South Dakota, to Agnes and Arnold Olheus Krogstad. She had one older brother, Milton. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sisseton.
After graduating from Sisseton High School in 1946, she worked for an attorney and did court reporting in Sisseton until she met and married Ray Luikens, from Chokio, Minnesota. At that time, Ray managed a hardware store in Chokio until 1951 when they moved to Lakewood, Colorado after purchasing the Sher-Fax Donut Shop. In 1963, they purchased the Coast to Coast store in Yuma (now Hardware Hank) and operated it for 24 years retiring in 1987.
Evelyn passed away at Yuma Life Care on August 4, 2015.
She is survived by three daughters: Cheryl Lewis and husband Scott of Pampa, TX; Karen Christ and husband Bill of Kearney, NE; and Janelle Devlin of Yuma. Eight grandchildren: Collin (Matt) Rains of Pampa, TX; Derek (Lara) Lewis of Dallas, TX; Jennifer (Brent) Doucet of McCook, NE; Mike (Kathy) Christ of Kearney, NE; Molly (Dan) DeMilt of Kearney, NE; Jeff Christ of Kearney; Charlie Devlin (Jamie) of Yuma; and Sarah Devlin of Highlands Ranch, CO.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray and one grandson, Matthew Devlin, as well as brother, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws.
Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Otis on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Scott Bieker officiating. Private Family Inurnment followed at the Yuma Cemetery in Yuma, Colorado. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
