Pearl Marie Shahan  1922  -  2015

Pearl Marie (Chandler) Burrows-Cox-Shahan was born on December 28, 1922  in Yuma, Colorado to Jesse Chandler and Mabel (Jewell) Chandler.  She passed away on November 26, 2015, at the age of 92, at the El Dorado Nursing Home in Trenton, Nebraska.  Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orville Shahan, and her brothers and sisters.

Pearl attended the Yuma schools where she grew up.  She married and moved to Vancouver, Washington where she worked as a Riveter on the War Ships along with being mother to Jim and Sharon.  Any job Pearl took on Pearl was always successful at from being a PBX operator, Bookkeeper or Hostess at a large Hotel chain in Denver etc.....

Pearl was very active in the Methodist Church in Beaver City, Nebraska, was a Girl Scout Leader and was active with the Royal Neighbors.

Sharon remembers coming home to homemade rolls or cookies.  Saturday Nights used to be Hamburgers and Chili, then we would play canasta or Listen to "Green Door" on the radio. Another memory was one Sunday she forgot to take the price tag off her hat.  She was so upset with us for letting that happen (she felt like Minnie Pearl, Ha!)

Jim and Sharon want to thank all of the relatives and friends for always remembering their mother on holidays and her birthday and thanks for all of the prayers.  Many thanks to the El Dorado Nursing Home for their loving care over the past few years.  Much love to Julie for keeping all of mom's bookwork and paperwork in order - couldn't have done it without you.

Pearl is survived by her son, James Cox and wife, Julie of Trenton, Nebraska and daughter, Sharon (Cox) Wharton; six Grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren along with many relatives and friends.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Jaime Nieves officiating.  Interment followed at the Yuma Cemetery. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
