Leonard Roy Snelling was born in Eckley, CO on September 11, 1930, to Roy and Ethel Josh Snelling, and passed away at Sterling Regional Med Center on May 12, 2017, at the age of 86.

He graduated from Yuma High School in 1950, and joined the Army on January 27, 1951 in Kaiserslauter, Germany and was discharged on December 30, 1953 as a Staff Sergeant.  Dad  received the Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

 He met and married the love of  his life, Hannlore Noll on November 19th, 1953, in Kaiserslauter, Germany.  They returned to Yuma after his discharge, and to this union three children were born, Jim, Harry, and Diana.

Dad worked as a Diesel Engine Mechanic at Farmers Implement for 40 years and was a Volunteer Fireman for 20 years. In 1973 Leonard and his 2 sons built the family home where he lived until his death. He loved to fish, do cabintery  work, and spend time with his family and friends. He built the addition on at the Community Cupboard and helped with the construction of The Children's Academy. If you needed something done he was the man to go to. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

Leonard was proceeded in death by his wife, Hannlore, Parents Roy and Ethel, and in-laws George and Dorthea Nolan. Brothers Jerrold and Wilbur, Sisters Edith Harr and husband Morris, Lila Harr and husband Don, Carla Aagesen and husband Marven (Mike) .

He is survived by his children Harry and wife Tammy of Ackley, IA and family, Jim and family of Sylvia, KS and Diana Blair and husband Denny and family of Yuma. Special niece Judy Chandler. Brother Gary Snelling and wife Joan and family of Yuma. Sisters-in-law Gloria Snelling and family of Cincinnati, OH and Mabel Snelling and family of Yuma.

Service is at 2:00 pm on May 17 at the Presbyterian Church of Yuma, with Pastor Edie Gause officiating.  Arrangements made by Baucke Funeral Home. Interment at Yuma Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are being made to Yuma Booster Club and Yuma Volunteer Fire Department.
