KENNETH DEAN LILLICH

Kenneth Dean Lillich was born on December 10, 1957 in Yuma, Colorado to Keith Lenard Lillich and Luella Mae (Korf) Lillich.  He died August 22, 2016 at Yuma District Hospital at age 58.

Ken was baptized January 5, 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yuma.  His sponsors were Edith Brockmeier and Lillie Lillich.

Ken was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yuma on March 26, 1972.   His confirmation verse was Matthew 7:7  “Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.”  He certainly lived out that command as he owned almost every translation of the Bible and read each one daily and diligently.  His all-time favorite religious song was El-Shaddai.

Schools that Ken attended were Yuma North School grades K – 3; Yuma Middle School grades 4--  8; and Yuma High School grades 9 – 12.  He graduated from Yuma High School in 1976.  His sport in high school was wrestling.  In his younger years Ken was employed by Herb’s Builders and Lillich Family Farm.  In Boy Scouts Ken earned his God and Country award and hisEagle Scout award.  Every Christmas immediate family members received Ken’s traditional gift of a $1.00 bill.  Most everyone that Ken felt close to also received an occasional hand-written letter on notebook paper penned with a marks-a-lot. In 1975 and 1976 Ken played the guitar in a rock band called “Fur” along with Barry Boughman, Kent Ernst, and Ed Barry.  The band was managed by his brother, Dave.  Ken’s favorite saying was “Don’t worry, be happy.”

Ken married Marie Kinnison in 1985.  They later divorced.

Ken enjoyed fishing, listening to audio books, eating at China Garden, spending time at the farm,  going to church, and visiting at the weekly coffee time at Parrish Care.  He was always eager to help at Parrish Care with whatever was needed, setting the tables, setting up chairs and passing out songbooks for the church services and sing-a-longs.  He really enjoyed living at Parrish Care.

Ken was preceded in death by his grandparents Ted and Lillie Lillich, and George and Bessie Korf.  He is survived by his parents, Keith and Luella Lillich, his brother David and wife Peggy, his niece Tara (Lillich) Edelen and husband, Ricky, and his nephew Mason Lillich, as well as an aunt, Shirley Boughman, an uncle, Larry Korf and many cousins on both the Lillich and Korf sides.

Ken knew the saving grace of Jesus and leaves us with the peaceful knowledge of his salvation.

A funeral service was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yuma on August 25, 2016 with Rev. Timothy Davis officiating.  Interment was at the Yuma Cemetery.  Baucke Funeral Home made the arrangements.
