Kenneth R Goeglein was born October 12, 1936 to Carl W. and Gladys (Seide) Goeglein in Yuma, Colorado and went to be with his Lord August 12, 2015 at his home in Yuma at the age of 78.

Kenneth lived his entire life in the Yuma area.  He attended schools at the St. John’s Day School and Yuma Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1956.  He participated in sports, with football being his favorite. He was named all-conference and all-state in football.  He was also active in 4-H and FFA.  Kenneth went to NJC in Sterling on a football scholarship, majoring in agriculture.  He came back to Yuma and purchased his farm in September of 1959. He was inducted into the Army October 12, 1959, serving in the 41st Artillery from 1959-1961.  He received an early out to be home for wheat harvest.  He continued to build his cow herd and expand his farm, being one of the first to put in irrigation.

Kenneth was Outstanding Cooperator for the Yuma Soil Conservation District and also was a board member; Pioneer Breeder twice for the Colorado Angus Association; served 12 years on the M & M Co-op Board, 10 years as President; awarded the Bill Seward Memorial Award.

He was baptized, confirmed and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Kenneth married Marilyn K. Lewien on December 11, 1964.  Surviving Kenneth are his children: Kristi (Kelly) Appelhans, Becky (Chris) Glaze, and Kent (Renee) Goeglein.  Grandchildren: Brandon (Jackie) Valdez, Trent Nelson, Caleb (Breann) Nelson, Matthew and Katie Glaze, Kendall, Molly, and Kyler Goeglein.  Great grandson; Vincent Valdez.  Siblings: Carl E. Goeglein, Betty Mills, Mille Miller, Dorothy (Gene) Cook, Linda (Jim) Huyghebaert.  Brother-in-laws: Dick (Bertha) Lewien and Jim (Cathy) Lewien.

Preceding him in death:  Parents; Carl and Gladys Goeglein, parents-in-law; Clark and Catherine Lewien, brother-in-law; Elmer Miller, sister-in-law; Melva Goeglein, brothers-in-law; Danny Lewien and Gary Lewien.

Memorial service held at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Yuma on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Timothy Davis officiating.  Interment followed at the Yuma Cemetery in Yuma, Colorado.  Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
