John T. "Pete" Plum

John T. “Pete” Plum was born September 10, 1926 to William and Virgie Plum in New Jersey.  Pete passed away June 13, 2016 at the Yuma Life Care Center.

Pete left New Jersey with his family and moved to Colorado at a young age.  He worked for Westinghouse for several years and then opened his own business, Raven Electric.   While living in Denver, Colorado he met and married Grace.  To this union five children were born:  Johnny, Penny, Pam, Pat and Polly. 

Grace passed away suddenly and a few years later Pete and Mildred were married.  They enjoyed many happy years together.

Pete owned and operated Otis Auto Electric for many years.  People would come from near and far because Pete could fix what others found unfixable.  He was an incredible mechanic and also dabbled in harvesting and swathing crops. 

Pete was a stabilizing influence in the lives of many young men in Otis.  Many  spent hours in his shop learning from the best.  Pete’s boys frequently stopped by for a visit and helped out anyway they could when Pete’s health began to decline.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, wife Grace, son Johnny, daughter Pam and stepdaughter Terri.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 37 years Mildred, daughters Penny, Pat and Polly, stepchildren Jo Richardson (Jerry), Dan Thompson (Denise), Dennis Thompson (Lee), Laura Basler (Dan), many grandchildren, great grandchildren and countless friends.

Pete was just a great guy and to know him was to love him.

Memorials may be made in memory of Pete to the Washington County Ambulance Service. There was a graveside service at the Otis Cemetery on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with CRE Randall Feather officiating.
