James (Jim) Clarence Amos returned home to his Heavenly Father early Friday morning August 19, 2016. He was born on June 29, 1937 to Viola Louise Piggot and Bernard Lester Amos in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
After graduating from High School, Jim joined the United States Air Force, during which time we worked for NASA in the space program working with chimpanzees, then additionally in disease control in Europe, working and living in France as well as in Turkey. After returning to the United States Jim moved to Arizona where he furthered his education and began working as a Respiratory Therapist.
In 2006 Jim was ordained to the office of Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and four years later in 2010 was sealed to his wife Dawn Alta Amos in the Denver, Colorado Temple. In February of 2013 Jim was ordained to the office of High Priest. He loved attending church and enjoyed the fellowship he received there.
Jim was known for his unique sense of humor and kept folks laughing with his well-timed “one liners” and quick wit. Jim is survived by his wife Dawn Alta Amos, Three children (Mike, Steven and Deanna), four grandchildren (Phil, Casey, Benjamin and Jessica) and 2 new great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday the 24th of August at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 207 South Kamala. Interment will be in the Yuma Cemetery.
