Dolly was the seventh child of eight born to James Edward Penton and Emma Faye Glenn Penton on January 9, 1933 in Wray, Colorado. She went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Yuma Life Care Center at the age of 84 years and 4 months.    She spent her childhood in the Beecher Island area and moved to Wray sometime around the age of 3.  She attended school in Wray, Colorado.

She met Charles Rex Yenter at a dance in Wray when she was still in high school.  They married September 4, 1949 in Wray. To this union 3 sons were born, Dennis DuWayne in 1950, Richard Rex in 1951 and Gregory Lynn in 1957.  The family moved several times, living in the Clarksville area; Las Vegas, Nevada; Dardanelle, Arkansas and Englewood, CO finally settling at their farm 1 mile east of Eckley in the early 1970’s.  Rex passed away in 1989.  Dolly met and married Gilbert Dale Monk on November 27, 1993.  With this union she gained step-children, Stephen Monk, Marlene McConnell and Rodney Monk.

Dolly and Dale purchased a home in Yuma together where she resided until she moved into Yuma Life Care Center on March 16, 2017.  She was employed several places in her lifetime doing a variety of jobs including taking care of her family, helping on the farm and raising her sons.  She would often tell the story of going to get her birth certificate when she was in her 40’s and had to have her mother go with her because the only name on it was “Baby Girl”. When she was a little girl they called her “Baby Doll” until she entered school and they dropped “Baby” and that’s how she became Dolly.  Dolly was a very outgoing and friendly person.  She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.  If you would ask her “How do you feel?”  She would always say “With the ends of my fingers.”  She played the piano and would try to teach her grandchildren how to play.  There was a song in particular that she taught the older girls that was risqué.  She loved to play cards and put jigsaw puzzles together and play multiple deck spider solitaire on the computer.

She was preceeded in death by her parents Jim and Faye Penton; husband Rex Yenter and husband Dale Monk; sons, Dennis and Richard; brothers, Warren, George, Bill and David; sisters, Emma Noffsinger and Jerry Howard.  She is survived by her son Greg and wife Jeanne; daughter-in-law Mary, brother Loren Penton and wife Polly all of Eckley; sister-in-law Neva Boren of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Sharon Penton of St. Francis, Kansas; grandchildren Erin Wolf and husband Frank of Woodland Park, Colorado; Tiffany Hansen of Sioux City, Iowa; Amber Yenter of Saint Mary’s, Georgia; Hannah Peery and husband Travis of Wray, Colorado; Michelle Spencer and husband Daren of Peyton, Colorado; Samuel Yenter of Eckley.  Step children, Stephen Monk and wife Kathleen; Marlene McConnell and husband Neil; Rodney Monk and wife Dianna all of Yuma.  10 step-grandchildren and their spouses.  5 great grandchildren and 24 step-great grandchildren.  Numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

Dolly will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
