Antonie Homburg

1931  ~  2015

Antonie Homburg of Holyoke, Colorado was born 27 December 1931 in Utrecht, Netherlands, married Petronella (Ellen) Van Berkel in Zeist, Netherlands 11 November 1954 and passed away 30 November 2015 at Regent Park Longterm Care Facility, Holyoke, Co. of natural causes with Ellen at his side.

Tony is survived by his wife Ellen of Holyoke, Brother, Nick of Idaho, Sister, Leah Riley of Michigan, two sons, Nico (Wyoming), Richard (Idaho) and daughter Shirley Boyles of Springfield, Co.  Tony was preceded in death by his parents,  two young brothers who died during WWII in Holland and his sister Truus Bitz.

A creative, artistic individual, Tony established himself as a painter and decorator professionally.

Tony's father was active in the Dutch Resistance and young Tony served as a decoy to aid in the efforts of the Dutch Underground.  He in later years served in the Dutch Army.  One of the major challenges in Tony's life was immigration to the United States with Ellen and two year old Nico to settle in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  They lived in Idaho and Colorado where Tony and the family enjoyed all of creation raising the family to enjoy and respect nature, hiking, boating, hunting, fishing, camping (to an extreme), horseback riding, ice skating (he was Dutch, after all) and skiing on snow or water.  Retirement brought Tony and Ellen to the warmth and friendship of small town living in Holyoke where he enjoyed relaxation among Ellen's flowers.

A small family graveside service is scheduled and a springtime celebration of Tony's life will be scheduled.
