Steven K. Schlachter

Steven K. Schlachter, 75, of Holyoke, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in
Holyoke, Colorado, entering into the presence of his Savior. He was born on September 1,
1949, the eldest of four children to Kenneth and LaRue Schlachter. Steven was raised in
Holyoke and attended school there, graduating in 1967. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion
Lutheran Church in Holyoke, Colorado, where his faith was first nurtured and remained a
guiding force throughout his life.
After graduating, he went to school at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO. He proudly
served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He returned home to farm full-
time and also worked as a carpenter.
In 1974, Steven married Judy, and together they raised two children. Though they later
divorced, they shared many years of family life. Steven had a lifelong love for building models,
reading, working in the yard, and spending time with his dogs. He especially enjoyed riding his
motorcycle and taking drives in his cars.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Marie Schlachter. He is
survived by his children, Stacey (Glendon) Price and Lucas (Shannon) Schlachter; and by his
grandchildren: Gavin and Morgan Price, Josephine, Sarah, and Evangeline Schlachter. Steven
is also survived by his siblings: Perry (Lois) Schlachter, Peggy (Rick) Pepmiller, and Norman
(Lisa) Schlachter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on June 5, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in
Holyoke, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lutheran
Hour Ministries.
