Stephen "Steve" Dillon Obituary

Stephen “Steve” Dwain Dillon was born on January 6, 1941 to Kathryn Ann Dillon in Peterstown, West Virginia.  He passed away on August 30, 2024 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colorado at the age of 83. 

Steve received his High School Diploma in 1959 and married Carol Jean (Dresen) Dillon on February 3, 1969 in Akron, Colorado. 

Steve served his country in the US Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division (known as the Screaming Eagles) during the Vietnam War from 1964 – 1967. 

After his military service he was employed for the Department of Commerce – NGS and retired after thirty-nine years of service.

Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, yard work, reading, history, being outdoors but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. 

Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Dexter Dillon and Eliza Maude (Dunn); mother, Kathryn Ann Dillon; father and mother- in-laws, John and Mildred Dresen.

Steve is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Carol Dillon; daughter, Breann (Dillon) Barber (Mike) of Greeley, Colorado; son, Shane Dillon (Shelly) of Akron, Colorado; granddaughters, Nycole Shea VanWyhe of Nunn, Colorado and Makenna Barber of Kersey, Colorado; grandson, Brayden Barber of Kersey, Colorado; brother, Robert Lewis Dillon; great grandchildren, Otiana, Alana, Ryker, and Javi as well as many sister and brother-in-laws nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

There was a private service and interment at the Yuma Cemetery in Yuma, Colorado. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
