Shirley Light Obituary

Shirley Ann Light was born on April 11, 1943 to Kenneth Ross and Bartje Francisca Cornelia (Ekdom) Miller in Pasadena, California.  She passed away on January 31, 2022 at her home in Joes, Colorado at the age of 78.

Shirley married Gary Light on August 3, 1965 in Pasadena, California.  To this union two children were born, Kenny and Heather.  Shirley and Gary were married for fifty-six years. 

Shirley’s most important job was being a wife and mother.  But she also had various other employments including her first job working at a cleaners in Pasadena, California; in Fort Morgan she worked in retail at Conrads and Pardons; she volunteered at the Thrift Store in Joes, Colorado. 

Shirley loved giving hugs, taking walks, and collecting rocks.  She sent a lot of cards and letters for all occassions.  She collected stuffed animals and ornamental mice. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Bartje Miller and her in-laws, Harold and Margaret Light. 

Shirley is survived by her husband, Gary; son, Kenny and wife Karen and family; daughter, Heather and husband, Curtis Medina; her loving grandchildren, Zabastian and Angelis;  sister, Nancy (Carlton) Claunch-Miller; brother, Frank (Darlene) Miller along with other relatives and friends. 

Memorial Service – Saturday – February 5, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church in Joes, Colorado with Pastor Jack Stout officiating. Inurnment to follow at the New Hope Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Joes, Colorado.  Reception follows at the Grassroots Community Center in Joes, Colorado.  Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.  The service will be streamed on Facebook Baucke Funeral Home and Monuments.
