Royce Potter Obituary

Royce James Potter was born June 3, 1942 to Rose and Roy Potter in Haxtun, Colorado. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side November 28, 2020. Royce was the youngest of five siblings, Robert (Bob), Helen, Richard (Dick) and Patricia.

He graduated from Haxtun High School in 1960 and attended Colorado State University for two years. Royce married Janet Heermann August 18, 1962 in Fort Collins and they moved to California. Royce worked at Laurentide, a finance company, for the next six years in California and Nevada. Their son Rick was born in Winnemecca, NV and daughter Jennifer in Mt. Shasta, CA during this time.

In 1968, Royce and Janet moved back to the Haxtun area to Valleyview Farms where Royce farmed and ranched. Their youngest child Jill was born in Haxtun. They raised their family on the farm until retiring and building a home in Haxtun in 1988. Throughout his life, Royce loved to travel with his family. He loved a good spontaneous road trip to Oregon, Louisiana, Utah, California, Arizona, Texas or just to a lake to go boating.

Royce and Janet spent many winters traveling to Texas and Arizona in their RV and finally settling in a winter home in Yuma, Arizona. Royce enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, motorcycle racing and collecting classic cars.

Royce is survived by wife Janet, son Rick of Haxtun, daughter Jennifer and Darren Salvador of Fort Collins, daughter Jill and Justin McDaniel of Aurora, grandchildren Jaiden and Trent Ellenwood, Blake Salvador, Lexi Potter, Jessa Salvador, Jade McDaniel and Jase McDaniel.

He is preceded in death by parents Roy, Rose, Billie Potter, brother Robert Potter and sister Helen Haskins, daughter-in-law Jamie Potter and grandchildren JL & JL McDaniel.
