Ronny Vernon “Whitey” Hubbard, born December 28, 1948, in Sterling, Colorado, passed away on December 21, 2025. He was a man deeply rooted in the land, devoted to his family, and known for his kindness, humor, and ability to make anyone feel like a friend.

Ron was the son of Clyde Vernon Hubbard and Norma Tadolini Hubbard. After the passing of his father, Ron was raised by Robert Asnicar, who played an important role in shaping the man Ron became. Growing up in northeastern Colorado, Ron was raised in a family of farmers and ranchers, a heritage that instilled in him a strong work ethic, resilience, and a lifelong connection to the land.

Ron shared 54 years of marriage with Sonia Beal Hubbard. Together they built a life north of Holyoke, Colorado, where they lived and worked on a dryland wheat farm. Their partnership was marked by love, dedication, and countless shared adventures.

Ron and Sonia were parents to three sons: Roman, Gabriel, and Dake, all of whom were the joys of his life. Ron was deeply involved in his children’s activities, especially their sports, always present with encouragement, pride, and unwavering support….and critique!

Ron had a passion for the outdoors. He was a longtime golfer, hunter, and cowboy. His favorite pastime was fishing in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, a place that held a special place in his heart. Ron and Sonia traveled there for nearly 40 years, gaining special friends and treasured memories.

A devoted member of his community, Ron served on many boards and fundraising benefits.  He was a man who gave generously of his time and heart and was deeply committed to helping others.

Ron didn’t know a stranger. He had a natural way of connecting with people, making others feel welcome, and bringing laughter wherever he went. His warmth, generosity, and feisty spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde, Robert and Norma, and his brother, Arny “Red” Hubbard.

Ron is survived by his wife, Sonia, and their sons Roman (Erin) of Windsor. CO,  Gabriel (Jill) of Holyoke, CO,  and Dake of New York City, NY. Grandchildren Sailor, Eastin, Ceily, Grace, Claire and Nolan.
