Ronald Haverland Obituary

Ronald Ray Haverland was born on November 11, 1938 to Harry Earl and Hazel Mary Angeline (Williams) Haverland in Akron, Colorado.  He passed away on March 19, 2018 at the Yuma District Hospital in Yuma, Colorado surrounded by his family. 

Ronald was of the second generation to graduate from the Otis High School, he graduated with the Class of 1956.  On June 14, 1959 Ron married Elaine Maxine (Bitterman) Haverland at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yuma, Colorado.  To this union two daughters were born, Ronna and Brenda.

Ron was employed at the First National Bank of Otis, Colorado for thirty-five and a half years serving in the capacity of Vice-President and Cashier.  He also worked in the FBI Records and Communications in Washington, DC for a short time.   

Ron was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Otis where he also served in the capacity of Trustee, Deacon and Elder.  He was a member of the Otis Lions Club, served as a Boy Scout Leader, was a Charter Member of the Akron Elks Lodge, the Akron Old Car Club and Old Threshers.  In the year 1955, he played on the Otis State Basketball Qualifying Team.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Hazel Haverland; brother, Thomas James Haverland; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ted and Velma Bitterman; brother-in-law, Fred Bitterman and nephew, Blake Bitterman. 

Ron is survived by his wife, Elaine Haverland of Otis, Colorado; daughters, Ronna Haverland of Otis, Colorado and Brenda Littlefield of Stoneham, Colorado; son-in-laws, Richard Perry of Otis, Colorado and Roger Littlefield of Stoneham, Colorado; grandchildren, Andrew Perry and wife, Haley and Jacob Perry from Otis, Colorado; Rebecca Harms and husband, Kaleb, Austin, Devin and Andrew Littlefield all from Stoneham, Colorado and his two great grandchildren, Kaden and Kinsley Harms also of Stoneham, Colorado along with a host of relatives and friends. 

The memorial service was held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10"30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Otis, Colorado with Randall Feather officiating.  The inurnment will follow at the Otis Cemetery in Otis, Colorado.  Baucke Funeral Home directed the services.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Otis First Presbyterian Church, Otis Fire Department (Santa Candy Run) or the Ronald Haverland Memorial Fund.
