Ronald Elliott Obituary

Ronald DeWayne Elliott (Ron), 78, of Otis, Colorado, passed away at the Yuma District Hospital on May 31, 2026.

Life and Legacy
Ron was born on March 12, 1948, to Richard Wesley Elliott and Velma Anna (Buchholz) Elliott in Akron, Colorado. He grew up in Akron and graduated from Akron High School.

Ron was a man of many roles, deeply devoted to his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Sue Farris, and to this union, three children were born: Lonny, Jamie, and Tina. Ron later married Debra Carolyn Bobbitt, and to this union, two sons were born: Wesley and Clinton. In his later years, Ron shared his life with his loving companion, Windy Muirheid.

Passions and Career
Ron’s ultimate passion in life was anything with wheels and a steering wheel or handlebars. From two wheels to eighteen, he loved it all. From an early age, he collected nostalgic cars and mastered the art of mechanics, learning how to fix just about anything. He spent many years building and racing circle track cars—some finished well, while others taught him valuable lessons about racing.

His career spanned many industries, heavily focusing on mechanics ranging from small engines to large Case tractors. While working at Bobbitt Equipment, he could often be heard talking directly to a stubborn tractor, saying, “I wish you were alive for one minute so I could kill you!”

Later in life, Ron transitioned to driving semi-trucks. He drove for many companies over the years, traveling across most of the United States. He was deeply grateful to spend his final years on the road driving alongside his sons, Wesley and Lonny, and his grandson, Trace. Ron was famously quick-witted, lacked a filter for his thoughts, and kept everyone in stitches with his endless sayings and anecdotes. He cherished camping and fishing trips with his loved ones and adored spending time with his family, no matter the location.
