Robert Arnold Brandt, Sr. died peacefully at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke early Saturday morning, Jan. 17, 2026. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at First Christian Church in Holyoke at 10 a.m. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Inurnment will follow Saturday’s service at Holyoke Cemetery.

Robert Arnold Brandt was born to Arnold and Alta (Brown) Brandt March 3, 1937, in Sedgwick County. The first of four sons, he grew up on the dryland farm south of Julesburg. He started milking cows at age 4 and was an active member of 4-H, earning numerous awards throughout his school years. As a member of Rocky Mountain Farmer’s Union, he reached the ultimate goal — the Torchbearer Award. He was also a member of FFA. He graduated from Julesburg High School in 1955.

Bob married Betty Ilene Hill of Ovid on April 11, 1957. To this union, five children were born: Robert Arnold Jr., Bethney Rose, Brenda Sue, Kevin Lynn and Allen Lee. Betty died July 24, 1986.

Bob went to electronics school in Denver in 1955 to be a radio and TV repairman, but couldn’t find a job when he graduated. Over his lifetime, Bob had numerous jobs, including Great Western Sugar factory in Ovid, general farm worker, mechanic, Western Farmers Association in Washington state, and a truck driver based in the Holyoke area for Clarence Miller and Scholl Oil & Transportation, where he retired in 2002. He was also a volunteer policeman in Washington state for close to seven years.

In his younger years, Bob enjoyed calling square dances, where he met his wife, Betty. He was also an avid bowler, competing on leagues in Holyoke and Julesburg, and attending many national mixed doubles tournaments.

Bob married Connie Harmon Aug. 3, 1987. Connie died April 30, 2019, in San Juan, Texas, where she and Bob had been living since 2004. Bob returned to Holyoke from Texas in August of 2020. He resided at Sunset View until his passing.

In addition to his wives, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Brandt and Lloyd Brandt, his daughter Bethney Brandt, son Allen Brandt, step-daughter Larrisa Harmon and brother-in-law Dale Rouse.

Survivors include his son Bob Jr. (Brenda Kaye) Brandt of Holyoke, daughter Brenda Brandt (Robert Gallegos) of Holyoke, son Kevin (Debbie) Brandt of Sterling, grandson Duncan (Erin) and great-grandson Orion Brandt of Loveland, granddaughter Molly Brandt and partner Imani Adams of Denver, grandson Austin Brandt of McAllen, Texas, granddaughter Kristina Brandt, brother Dale (Marilyn) Brandt of Buena Park, California, sisters-in-law Maxine Brandt of Holyoke and Lorraine Rouse of Sun City, California, special friend Velma Schmidt of Holyoke, and many nieces, nephews and friends
