Raydell Hendrix of Holyoke was born December 20, 1933 in Lamar, Arkansas to Floyd and Edna Lorene Hendrix. He was the second of 11 children. Ray passed away after a short illness on November 14, 2024 at Regent Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Holyoke at the age of 90.
On October 12, 1958 Ray married Esther Graham in Ft. Morgan, Colorado. They became parents to Dana Rae and Loren Donald. Ray enjoyed calf roping and team roping. But, most of all he enjoyed operating his cow/calf operation and working with his horses. He had a knack for teaching youth to rope and ride. He was a perfectionist when it came to his horses, cattle and machinery. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed taking them with him when he would check cattle or build fences. They always knew when they went with Grandpa there would be a snack that Grandma had packed that morning waiting for them. If they were in Julesburg at the ranch, there was always ice cream once they were finished working.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and sisters and his wife, Esther. He is survived by his daughter, Dana Barth and son, Loren (Patty) Hendrix of Holyoke. Grandchildren, Justin (Toni) Sherwood of Yoder, CO, Brandon Sherwood of Penrose, CO, Brittany (Sage) Sexson of Sharon Springs, KS, Tanner (Ally) Barth of Colorado Springs, CO and Taylor Hendrix and fiancé Ryan Klintworth of Curtis, NE.
