Polly Dee Vincent

Polly Dee Vincent passed away on June 21, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born in Yuma, Colorado, on February 2, 1954, to Jim and Mildred (Millie) Vincent, she was the “spunky” one of four siblings: Susan Marie, Nancy Jo, and Matt. Affectionately called Polly Dee by family and friends, she always brought fun and laughter wherever she went.

Polly’s deep love of family began with her close relationships with her parents and siblings, and especially with her grandmothers—Bessie Cannon, Vera Cannon, Elizabeth Millen, and Gertrude Vincent—who all lived within four blocks of the Vincent family home on Ash St. Her proudest moments revolved around creating close, loving, and everlasting bonds with her two daughters, Kirsten Beth and Stacy Irene, and her three granddaughters, Margaret “Margaux” Irene, Isabel Kimberly, and Avery Mildred Jane. She was a beloved Mom and “Nanny” who stayed up late making prom dresses, hand‑crafted elaborate costumes, and always gave the girls her best—offering solutions to life’s biggest problems with love, humility, and humor.

In her late twenties, while a busy mom of two young daughters, she went back to school and began a career in healthcare, as a patient advocate and in hospital administration. She poured love into countless lives—improving quality of life for long-term care patients, filing insurance claims for those in need, and spending hours on the phone securing the best care for others. Polly showed endless compassion, unwavering empathy, and understanding, leaving a legacy of care and kindness that continues to inspire many.

Polly returned to Yuma from 2008 to 2012 and was committed to carrying on her parents' legacy of making a difference in the community. She was a member of PEO, delivered Meals on Wheels, and served on the Yuma Hospital Board for several years. She was most proud of her work in helping build a beautiful health park adjacent to Yuma Hospital.

In 2013 she moved to Denver to be closer to her daughters and granddaughters. Her life was busy attending their extracurricular events, volunteering at Mile High Church, and devoting herself to family and friends. She enjoyed special relationships with her nephew Jacob—spending afternoons canning beets and playing cribbage; nephew Elliot, who often called on Aunt Pol for a dose of laughter and advice; and nieces Ali and Lexie, who had Aunt Pol as a surrogate mother from the day they were born. In recent years her role as “Nanny Pol” expanded to include grandnieces and grandnephews Hollis, Millie, Stella, Vincent, Eddie, and Samuel Lester. Polly’s life of deep, lasting relationships kept her close to her two stepdaughters, Christina Welsh Shuster and Sherrece Welsh Nath, as well as her sisters-in-law: Polly Warkentine, Cynthia Chandler, Sally Gerdes, and Lisa Bowles.

Loved ones who will miss her dearly include daughters Kirsten Stoltz (son-in-law Peter) and Stacy Chamberlin (partner Brent Lester and his son Samuel); granddaughters Margaux and Avery Chamberlin and Isabel Stoltz; sisters Susan Vincent Rittenberg (brother-in-law Gerard) and Nancy Vincent Masak; brother Matt Vincent (sister-in-law Robin); nieces and nephews Jacob, Jonah (wife Victoria) and Jesse Vincent, Elliot Masak, Alison Rittenberg Carroll (husband Alex), and Lexie Rittenberg DiLuzio (husband Nick); grandnieces and grandnephews Hollis and Millie DiLuzio, and Stella, Vincent, and Eddie Carroll; and a long list of friends she loved as family.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Yuma Cemetery 11:00 AM on July 17, 2026 officiated by The Reverend George A. Justice, Jr.  Following the service at the cemetery, everyone is invited to a celebration of Polly’s life at The Orphanage (on Main St.) from 12:00-2:00 PM.
