Norma Warren Obituary

Norma Carol Warren died January 26, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life is planned Saturday, January 31, at 11:30 a.m. at the Biesemeier Room at the Phillips County Event Center in Holyoke, followed by a lunch provided by the family. A private inurnment will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the local Because organization, P.O. Box 64, Holyoke, CO 80734.

Norma Carol Kunkel was born in Holyoke March 1, 1936, to Leslie and Grace (Cassels) Kunkel. She was the youngest of four daughters and blessed to be part of a loving and supportive family. Throughout her life, family was the most important thing to her.

Norma loved music and played the clarinet in the high school band. She and her sister Marj enjoyed playing piano duets, even into adult life. She also loved to dance. Norma graduated from Phillips County High School in 1954 and attended the University of Denver for one year.

Norma and Stanley Willmon were married December 26, 1955, in Holyoke. Four children were born to this union: Laura, Ronda, Linda, and Clayton. They were later divorced. She was married briefly to Dake F. Warren.

Norma wore many different hats in the employment world. She went from bank teller, first at Farmers State Bank, then at First National Bank, to travel agent at Holyoke World Travel, then on to the Reimer-Smith elevator weighing trucks and finally a clerical worker at the Holyoke Co-op Tin City Chemical Plant. In all of her work environments, she made lasting friends. There was a time in her life that Norma had a passion for playing tennis and golf. When she could no longer play, she enjoyed watching golf on TV. As a dedicated Bronco fan, she also enjoyed watching them play (at least when they were winning!). Even though she was a very private person and enjoyed her solitude, Tuesday cocktails with friends was the highlight of her week.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Dorothy (Dale) Reimer, Virginia Jerome and Marjorie (Barry) Giles; and grandson Joshua Schroetlin.

Survivors include children Laura (Mark) Schroetlin and Clay Willmon of Holyoke, Ronda (Steve) Hayes of Wray and Linda (Brian) Tufts of Camdenton, Missouri; grandchildren Curt (Laura Beth) Schroetlin of Sterling, Lucas (Jennifer) Hayes of Holyoke, Jennifer (Eric) Wolff of Aurora, Lincoln (Rachel) Hayes of Jersey City, New Jersey, Caitlin (Taylor) Howe of Lebanon, Missouri, Meaghan (Zachary) Harrell of Springfield, Missouri, Dylan Tufts and fiancé Ava Canales of Camdenton, Missouri, Kate Knights and fiancé Christian Cable of Longmont and Amber (Jeff) Hemingson of Woodland Park; great-grandchildren Miranda (Matt) Schroetlin Kimminau, Joe and Brett Schroetlin, Daniel, Andy and Julia Schroetlin, Kailar, Anna, Sarah, Lucy, Izaak, Levi, Judah and Ezra Hayes, Colton Wolff, Bryce and Carter Rollins, Fiona Hayes, Ainsley, Duke, Ellis, and Judge Howe, Asher Harrell; and nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
