Naomi Nadine Jenkins-Heermann was born to Jay Martin and Lorna (Groshans) Meinte on July 31, 1938 at her family home in Holyoke, Colorado, and passed away on May 9th, 2020, at Melissa Memorial Hospital.
Naomi graduated from Holyoke High School in 1955. Upon graduation she attended beauty school in Colorado Springs. On August 5th, 1956 she married Harold Jenkins Jr. To this union two children were born, Deanna (Jenkins) Wegman and Tonia (Jenkins) Carlson.
Naomi and Harold enjoyed 34 years of marriage until Harold’s death in 1990. In September 2012 Naomi married Kenneth Heermann and they resided in Holyoke until his death in 2014.
Naomi was known for being a very hard worker all of her life, beginning as a young teenager. She proudly spoke of being one of the first “car hops” at the Dairy Queen in Holyoke. She also worked as a telephone operator, an Avon lady, and retired from Julesburg Elementary School after serving as Secretary for 27 years. She was also known to fill the role as Harold’s right-hand-man during harvest and with the farm animals. Throughout the years Naomi enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents and step-parents, her husband (Harold Jenkins Jr.), her second husband (Kenneth Heermann), her son-in-law (John), brothers-in-law (Gary, Ed, Lloyd, Pat) and sister-in-law (Clara).
She is survived by her daughters, Deanna Wegman and Tonia Carlson (Doug), her grandchildren (Derek, Chris & Kristen, Becky & Kevin, and Travis); great grandchildren (Noah, Ruth, William, and Levi); siblings Jim Martin (Shirley), Mary Fulscher, Carmen Holloway, Mike Meinte, and Tammy Berbee (Jim). She is also survived by step-son and family (Eldon, Christine, Justin and Sarah Heermann); brothers-in-law Reed Jenkins (Cathy), Dean Jenkins (Sondra); Sisters-in-law JoeAnna Jenkins, Earla Connors; numerous nieces and nephews.
