Another good person has been called home, but her memory will one be cherished by those who knew her in life and were permitted to call her friend.
Muriel Brown Chaney, 88, who was a life long resident of Haxtun and loved her town died peacefully at her residence on April 13th.
Muriel Rae Brown was born February 6th, 1932 the youngest daughter of Walter and Ruth (Blanchard). She was raised with her siblings Gordon, Marion, and Ida. She started her education at Highland Center, graduated from Haxtun High School 1950. She received her cosmetology degree soon after. She owned and operated a beauty shop in town for many years.
The last couple of years were difficult for Muriel she missed her independence, friends and church. She didn’t want to go out much because she felt her life had changed. She was a member of the Haxtun Methodist Church and with visit from Pastor Jeri was able to renew her faith and find some peace.
Muriel was proceeded in death by her father Walter P Brown, mother Ruth Brown, brothers Gordon O Brown and Marion Brown, sister Ida Kuhler, nephew John Brown, and her husband Reon Chaney.
Muriel leaves to mourn her loss, Janell Foley(niece) and her husband David, grand nephews Adam (Megan), Nicholas (Liza), grand niece Megan (Daniel), and three great-grand nieces, Isabella, Charlotte,Harper, great-grand nephews Austin and Maxwell.
Margaret Buchholz (niece) and her husband Fred, grand nephews Gordon and Zachary, grand niece Sharon and Anna.
Her life long friend Lydia Dunbar, and special friends Marilyn Garretson, Joe and Candy Hofmeister. Muriel had a small group of loyal local friends that could always be counted on.
Lord look favorable upon Muriel and please welcome her. She has completed her journey here on earth.
