Michael (Mike) Dean Kalb was born December 19th, 1951, to William and Doris Kalb. Mike grew up in Jefferson, South Dakota, alongside his brother, Mark, until his family began to move around before settling in Yuma, Colorado, in 1968.

Throughout high school, Mike participated in football, wrestling, basketball, baseball, or something like that, but for sure, football. As a coach's son, it was always hard to differentiate between what you participated in and what you had to help your dad in. However, throughout everything he participated in, he was always the guinea pig for his father's coaching strategies and his helping hand on the ranch. After graduating from Yuma High School, he went to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, to follow his passions of welding and ranching. At 19, Mike welcomed his first child, Renee, and she quickly became his whole world. Seven years later, his world expanded when his son Brandon joined their family. Everything he did from then on was done with them at the center of his heart. Moving back to Yuma in 1978, wherever he went, it was never long before he found his way home.

Dedicated to hard work and fulfilling his life, Mike was a master of balancing work and traveling. In 1987, he began to follow his passion for cattle ranching alongside his dad. Soon after, he bought his forever home and made it home south of Yuma. Always making time for his kids, he led by example in pursuing his interests. In his life, Mike loved to play poker, ride his Harleys, and go to the sale barn.

His first grandchild, Kendall, was born in 1995, followed by Molly in 1998 and Kyler in 2002. He continued teaching them hard work, how to have fun, laugh with their bellies, and live life to the fullest, as he taught his kids. He supported them in all that they did and frequented their activities as one of their biggest supporters.

He remained family-oriented, with his family and the friends he treated as family. He had no problem taking kids in and loving them as his own such as Lacy, Tonya, and Jace, along with their kids.

Michael passed away on Sunday, April 16th, 2023, ready to achieve the smoking hot body he always wanted (through cremation). He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Doris Kalb, and his son, Brandon Kalb. Mike is survived by his daughter, Renee, and her children, Kendall, Molly, and Kyler. His brother, Mark, and wife, Donnie, and their children, Jason, Matthew, and wife, Vanessa, Danny and wife, Brittany, and Jerry. And by several more uncles, aunts, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Along with many friends that meant the world to him.
