Maxine Snyder Obituary

Maxine Snyder passed away on April 1st, 2026 in Greeley, Colorado at the age of 95.

Maxine Helena Snyder (Lair) was born on June 23rd, 1930 to Mable and Roy Lair at their home south of Lone Star school in the Burdett region of Washington County, Colorado. The family moved a few miles west for a short time before moving north of the school when she was entering 8th grade. She attended Lone Star School until she met and married Manford Snyder on October 20, 1946. They were married for 66 years until his death in 2013. The couple originally made their home south of Otis but later moved north of Otis and farmed their land for over 60 years. Maxine drove trucks, tractors and combines alongside Manford throughout their farming years. Early on they both enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends and neighbors. Over the years they attended many activities and events for their children and grandchildren. Maxine was proud to be a member of both the Otis and Lone Star Communities.

Maxine and Manford were blessed with 5 children. Maxine enjoyed sewing clothes for her daughters and later brought joy to others by crocheting afghans and blankets. She was also very talented at cross-stitching and stitched many kitchen towels, bibs, baby blankets and other items. She cross-stitched a special baby blanket for each of her thirteen grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Otis, which was very important to her. She often provided food and meals for church events and for school activities and events in Otis where all of her children attended school. The family farm was the site of many large family gatherings for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter with lots of good food and special memories. Her grandchildren loved their visits to “the farm”.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Manford, daughter Opal Dick, daughter Irene Coplan, granddaughter Linnea Dick, grandson Kyle Snyder and greatgrandson Edward Havens.

Maxine is survived by her brother Richard (Marge) Lair, son-in-law Don Dick, daughter Rose (Don) Carroll, son Terry (Janet) Snyder, son Earl (Kelly) Snyder, granddaughter Andrea Gliva, grandson Shawn Havens, granddaughter LaDawn Havens, granddaughter Jennifer Vetter, grandson Jerod (Amy) Carroll, granddaughter Melissa (Ryan) Gasman, grandson Ryan (Tiffany) Snyder, granddaughter Laura (Ray) Hahn, granddaughter Lindsey (Jeff) Sholtis, grandson Bryce (Sadaf) Snyder, granddaughter Ashley (Andrew) Gannon, grandson Tanner Hudnall, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and six
