Obituary

Marjory O’Neal was born on September 18, 1926 to Claude Welch and Gretchen M. (McNeil) Welch in Otis, Colorado.  She passed away on June 17, 2023 at Garden Terrace in Aurora, Colorado at the age of 96.

Through correspondence courses, Marjory graduated from the Arickaree High School in 1962. (The same year as her oldest son graduated.) She received her Associates Degree in Applied Science and Human Services from Metro State College in 1979.

Marjory married Bernard Davidson in 1943 and George “Buck” O’Neal in 1958.

Marjory worked for many years as a postal clerk at the Post Office in Cope, Colorado, she retired in 1987.  She worked for seventeen years as Administrative Assistant in the Education Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.  Marjory retired in 1994, she moved to LaSalle, Colorado and volunteered for seventeen years at the Greeley Hospital. 

Marjory was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Gretchen Welch; brothers, Ronald Allen and Bill Welch and sister, Edna Rains.

Marjory is survived by her children, sons, Herbert Davidson of Loveland, Colorado and Kenneth Davidson of Otis, Colorado; daughters, Sylvia Davidson of Aurora, Colorado, Susan Nickel of McDonald, Kansas and Sandra Drake of Newcastle, Wyoming, along with six grandchildren and ten great grandchdildren.

There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Otis Cemetery in Otis, Colorado with Dan Sidebottom of the Cope Community Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Marjory’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.  Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
