Marianne Sullivan, age 85, of Holyoke, Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Wray Community District Hospital in Wray, Colorado. She was born June 12, 1936, the daughter of Adolph Seipp and Marie McGinn Seipp in Denver, Colorado. Marianne attended elementary and high school in Arvada, Colorado and graduated from Arvada High School in 1954. Following graduation Marianne attended Colorado Women’s College in Denver.
Marianne was united in marriage to Eldon “John” Sullivan on June 18, 1955, in Lakewood, Colorado. From 1955 to 1961 they lived in Arvada, where they owned and managed the Hackberry Hill Dairy. In 1961, John and Marianne moved their family to Loveland, Colorado, where they farmed and ranched for five years, then managed the King Ranch for six years.
In 1972 John and Marianne purchased a farm west of Holyoke where the family farmed and ranched until 1992. They raised corn, wheat, sunflowers, and a herd of Charolais cattle. In 1990 they purchased Lucky’s Liquor and in 1993 they built The Bakery. They sold their businesses and retired in 2000.
While living in Arvada, Marianne joined the Hill and Dale Home Demonstration club in 1957. She was a member for three years until she moved to Loveland where she joined the Big Thompson Club and later the Carter Lake Home Demonstration Club. When she moved to Holyoke in 1972, she joined the Jolly Dozen Club. Marianne has served in many local and county offices over the years. She served as the chair for Holly Daze craft fair fundraiser for over 40 years. She has been awarded the CAFCE District I North Star Award, CAFCE Family of the year, and the Master Homemaker Award. She was a member of FCE for 63 years.
Marianne was a member of the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce for many years and elected president in 1993. She was instrumental in developing several programs some of which still exist today, for example, the Gala that honors outstanding performances in the community and the Christmas Parade of Lights. She accrued nearly 4000 hours as a volunteer with the Colorado Welcome Center at Julesburg. Also, she was a was a 26-year member of Cowbelles (Colorado CattleWomen).
Marianne is preceded in death by her husband, John Sullivan, father Adolph Seipp, mother Marie McGinn Seipp, brother Robert Weisener, brothers Harvey and Ernie Seipp, sisters Anabel, Betty, Dottie and Kitty Seipp.
She is survived by her son, Tim Sullivan and wife, Ann of Luxemburg, Wisconsin; daughter, Kimberlee Kramer and husband, Byron, of Holyoke; daughter Kelley Sullivan, of Holyoke; and son, Shawn Sullivan and wife Terri of Burlington, Colorado; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Marianne Sullivan will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Holyoke. Interment will be in Holyoke Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Marianne Sullivan Memorial Fund. Baucke Funeral Home of Holyoke are in charge of arrangements.
