Linda Gay Spencer, age 66, passed away January 25, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. Linda was born on June 24, 1958 to Howard and Rosalie (Armagost) Morgan in Wray, Colorado as the fourth of eight children. She attended school in Eckley until it closed in 1972 and graduated from Yuma High School in 1976.
A devoted and fierce mother, Linda welcomed her children to the world with arms wide open: Melinda in 1977, Kyle in 1987, and Morgan in 1991. Linda met her husband Kenneth in 1983 and married in the spring of 1984. Soon after, the family moved to Garden City, Kansas until returning a few years later, ultimately settling permanently in Eckley, Colorado in 1991.
Linda was a hard worker her entire life. An intelligent and tenacious woman, there was nothing she couldn’t do. She had many jobs over the years: meat cutter, veterinarian assistant, shirt printing, bookkeeper, and recently retired from the Wray Hospital after 17 years as an administrative assistant. She also wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. Linda and her husband were able to work together for many years farming, working cattle, and raising their children.
Linda had such a love for animals, especially horses. As a child, she was known to bring home any and every stray pet she found, a habit that never really stopped. She loved the outdoors, from vegetable gardening to her lawn and flowers, but mostly she enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family.
Linda loved deeply, was so wise and generous. She will be very greatly missed by her family. Linda is survived by husband Kenneth; daughter Melinda (Joe, Jake, Jenae); son Kyle (David); siblings Jeannie (Mike), Willie (Sam), Clayton (Crystal), and Steve; Jacqueline and Damari; as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Morgan, her parents, and three siblings.
Funeral services were held at Eckley Community Center on February 3, 2025 with interment at the Eckley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Linda Spencer Memorial at Equitable
