Kenneth Laverne Salyards passed away January 6, 2021 at Haxtun Hospital at the age of 92.

He was born in Haxtun, Colorado on April 23, 1928. He was the son of Lloyd and Anna Holmes Salyards.

Ken attended schools in Ovid, Dailey and Haxtun. The family lived in Ovid, Littleton and Eaton for a period of time, before returning to Haxtun.

He married Lily Mae Fetzer on January 1, 1950 in Dailey, Colorado. They were parents to three sons, Patrick, Mike and Dennis. They lived and farmed north of Haxtun and later in life moved to town.

For many years he was a bus driver for the Haxtun school district, he truly enjoyed it. Ken and Lily loved to support their community. While driving the school bus they enjoyed going on several senior sneak trips. They were also Booster Club members, supported the local FFA and never missed a sporting event- especially when their grandkids were growing up.

Lily passed away June 8, 2015 and Ken continued to live in their home in town. Until entering the nursing home in December 2019.

Survivors include his sons, Patrick Salyards of Haxtun. Mike and wife Susan Salyards of Haxtun. Dennis and wife Arlene Salyards of Haxtun. Brothers Melvin Salyards of Grand Junction. Jack and wife Shirley Salyards of Haxtun. Grandchildren; Colton and Lee Salyards of Haxtun. Jesson and Nicole Salyards of Severance. Chelsey Salyards of Sidney, NE. Lacey and Adam Petersen of Brush. Shaylee Salyards and Rio Klimek of Greeley. Weston Salyards of Haxtun. 8 Great-Grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents Lloyd & Anna Salyards. Wife Lily Salyards, brothers Stanley, Everett and Eldon Salyards and sister Maxine Daniels.

Funeral services Tuesday - January 12, 2021 - 10:30 A.M. at United Methodist Church in Haxtun. Interment - Haxtun Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Haxtun United Methodist Church or Haxtun School - Bus & Transportation. Baucke Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
