Keith Burton Obituary

Keith Curtis Burton was born on April 14, 1934 to Amos and Ollie (Stryker) Burton in Haxtun, Colorado.  He passed away on May 29, 2025 at the Haxtun Hospital Extended Care Unit in Haxtun, Colorado.

Curtis attended Daily Schools until his freshman year and then to Fleming where he graduated with the Class of 1952.  After high school he served his country in the US Army from 1952 to 1956. Was also Honor Guard for the Unknown Soldier in Washington DC.

Curtis was married to Audrey Johnson in February 1959 and to this union there were 4 children, Marilyn Burton, Thomas Burton, Dennis Burton, Kevin Burton.  Curtis and Scharlene Legg were together for more than 30 years.

Curtis spent most of his working years as self-employed.  He worked for Sterling Colorado Beef, Part-time Elevator operator at Dailey Coop.  Also served as a board member during this time. Dairy Farmer, Dry land Wheat and corn farmer. Farrow to finish pig farmer, Chicken farmer and delivered eggs to the grocery stores in Haxtun and Fleming in the 1960’s. Custom grain harvester, over the road truck driver for CR/England and Prime and was a driver trainer for years. He loved watching his grandkids activities and taking them for rides in his big truck. He also loved to feed and check the animals every day for most of his life.

Curtis loved going to the Heritage Senior Center in Sterling, Colorado to dance with Scharlene.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Nylene Burton, Mother Ollie Burton, Daughter Marilyn Burton, Son Kevin Burton, Sister Susan Legg and her husband Elmer.

Curtis is survived by his sister, Joyce Wieck and Lee, Brother Cary Lambert and Carol, Son Thomas Burton and Carmela, Son Dennis Burton and Mandy, Grandchildren Kashlie Jensen, Jarod Burton, Dylan Burton and Mary, Cordell Burton, Dustin Burton and Clairissa, Cory Burton and Andrea, Paige Burton, Melanie Burton, Andrew Burton. Many nieces and nephews. Great Grandkids, Kalia Iwerks, Ruby Burton, Booker Burton, Brooks Burton, Cameron Burton, Baby Burton boys due in July and in August.

Funeral Service- Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Haxtun Methodist Church in Haxtun, Colorado at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Haxtun Cemetery in Haxtun Colorado. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
