Karen Ruth Hershfeldt was born January 15, 1955 to Clyde and Merna Markussen. She entered into eternal life February 17, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Karen grew up and graduated high school in Ogallala, Nebraska. After graduating she worked at TRW in Ogallala.
She met the love of her life, Gary, in 1973 and they were married May 24, 1975. With this union they had four children, Amber, Andrea, Jenifer, and Paul. The family lived in the Sedgwick and Ovid area before moving to Holyoke. She worked at Comfort Things sewing bible covers before going to work for Speer Cushion. She was at Speers for 26 years only to retire to be able to take care of her grandbabies.
Karen was most passionate about her family. She doted on her grandbabies as they were her pride and joy. She enjoyed hosting annual cook outs and always looked forward to the annual family camping weekend. She loved camping whether it be at Lake McConaughy or the mountains. She enjoyed the Colorado Rockies and spending summer weekends on the golf course with family. She also golfed on the Lady's Golf League.
Karen's heart was so big that if you were a friend, you were family. She loved having people around her. She was the happiest when she had her family all in one spot.
