Joan Maude (Wheeler) Knapton was born on May 16, 1935 to James Homer and Maude (Burrell) Wheeler in Mildred, Colorado. She graduated to be with her Lord on March 23, 2020 in Wray, Colorado.
Joan eloped with Norman Knapton on August 26, 1954. Norman and Joan spent sixty-three years together before Norman graduated to heaven on September 26, 2017. To this union one son was born, William Randall Knapton, on May 30, 1958 and he passed away on April 15, 2005.
Joan worked as a secretary in the county offices and later transported medical biopsies. She was a charter member of the Faith Bible Baptist Church in Yuma, Colorado.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, James and Maude Wheeler; husband, Norman Knapton; son, William Randall Knapton; and sisters, Irene Brown and Ernestine Billington.
Joan is survived by nephews, Jim Billington, Mike Billington, Darrin Brown and Barry Brown; nieces, Judith Shannon and Sheryl Jungwirth; and cousin, Sherry Sullivan along with other relatives and friends.
Due to the Covid-19 only a graveside service was held at the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Don Barnes officiating. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
