James “Jim” Steyaert was born on September 16, 1948 to Paul Albert Steyaert and Paula Mae (Petersen) Steyaert in Akron, Colorado. Jim grew up on a farm 23 miles southwest of Akron, Colorado. He was the oldest of five children. He passed away on August 10, 2022 in Yuma, Colorado at the age of 73.
Jim graduated from Brush High School and received an Associate’s Degree at Northeastern Junior College.
Jim married Doris Blake on March 29, 1999 in Wray, Colorado. Jim and Doris enjoyed over six years together before Doris passed on June 10, 2005.
Jim worked for Co-op in Yuma, Colorado from 1967 – 1970. He drove a truck for Norman Sipple from 1970 – 1994. He owned and operated for Steyaert and Son Trucking from 1994 – 2022. Jim drove for fifty-two years and over four 1/2 million miles accident free.
Jim enjoyed farming, woodworking and yard work especially with his wife, Doris. He loved anything to do with the maintenance on his truck.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Paula Steyaert and his wife, Doris.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Chauna Button; son, Bryan Steyaert of Windsor, Colorado; sisters, Merilu Fritz of Littleton, Colorado, LuAnn Steyaert of Brush, Colorado and JoAnn Adams of Littleton, Colorado and brother, Larry Steyaert along with many other relatives and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Yuma County Fairgrounds Concession Building in Yuma, Colorado, come and go as you please.
