Grant Robert Ferguson, of Holyoke, entered into eternal life on February 28, 2025 in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was born April 8, 1936 in Holyoke to Carl & Edna (Thompson) Ferguson.
Grant graduated from Phillips County Highschool and then served in the United States Marines from 1955 to 1958. He was honorably discharged after having attained the rank of Lance Corporal.
Upon returning to civilian life, he married Eva Louise Voges on December 20, 1958. He worked at Gates Rubber Company in Denver until Eva's graduation from Loretto Heights University. Upon returning to Holyoke, four children were born to this union. Karin Reyne, Kristi Reynette, Rance Robert, and Wade Randall.
Grant farmed and ranched in the Wages area with his family until they moved to Fort Collins in 1976. After their marriage ended, Grant returned to Holyoke where he married Kathi Malaski and worked various jobs. Following their divorce and upon achieving sobriety, he married MaryAnn Kern and adopted her daughter, Samatha Dawn.
They lived in the Pleasant Valley community southeast of Holyoke where Grant ranched and helped neighbors farm and work cattle. Grant enjoyed spending time fishing and playing pitch with family and friends.
He retired to Sunset View and you could always find him and his Boston terrier by his side, no matter where he went. Later, he moved into Regent Park where he always had a joke and colorful story or two to tell.
Grant was a devoted member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and active in the Knights of Columbus.
Grant is preceded in death by his parents; sister Eleanor Nestor, brother-in-law John Nestor, sister-in-law Lois Ferguson; grandson Todd Kramer, first wife Eva Ferguson; and several nieces and nephews.
Grant is survived by his sister Patricia Gochnauer, of Sumter, South Carolina; brothers James Ferguson of Fayetteville Arkansas and Charles (Lynne) Ferguson of Holyoke; children Karin (Randy) Kramer, Kristi Hillicker, Rance (Connie) Ferguson , Wade (Irene) Ferguson, Samatha (Jesse) Ferguson-Dämm; grandchildren Bret (Lori) Kramer, Kandice Kramer, Kassandra (Raymond) Soulard, Chad (Katie) Kramer, Brandon Falco, Garrett Hillicker, Brittney Ferguson, Amanda (Adam) Parrish, Caleb Ferguson, Lance Robinson, and AJ Duke; great-grandchildren Eva Kramer, Charlotte Kramer, Gracelyn Eastin, Kohen Parrish, Wes Kramer, Bryce Kramer, Morgan Parrish, Hunter Falco, and Alyse Kramer; nieces and nephews; cousins; and many lifelong friends.
Rosary – Thursday – Thursday - March 13, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holyoke, Colorado.
Memorial Mass – Friday, March 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Jerry Rohr officiating. Inurnment to follow at the Holyoke Cemetery in Holyoke, Colorado. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
