Glen W. Michael passed away at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke, Colorado, on July 30, 2020 at the age of 94. He was born at home in Fairfield, northeast of Haxtun, Colorado, on May 26, 1926. He was the second of 3 sons born to George and Maude (Bjorklun) Michael.
He attended school at Fairfield Country School for 10 years before going to Haxtun High School for his final 2 years and graduating in 1944. After graduation he joined the Army in November of 1944 and served 2 years. Upon his completion of service, he attended Blair Business College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, studying accounting for two years. The Gunnar Wahlstrom farm, 5 miles north and 1 ½ miles west of Holyoke became available, so he came to Holyoke to farm.
He married Eva Mayfield at the Fairfield Covenant Church on October 27, 1949. They made their home on that farm and shared their lives until Eva passed away on April 13, 2004. Glen remained on the farm until he moved to Regent Park in Holyoke, Colorado, in November of 2017.
Glen & Eva walked the Christian life and really enjoyed their family. They were active in the First Baptist Church in Holyoke for many years, both serving in many capacities at the church. Glen was very active with the Gideons, striving to share the Word of God with as many people as possible.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eva, his brother Oscar and wife Norma Michael and his nephew George Michael.
He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn and husband Merlin Dirks and their sons, Bruce and wife JoAnn Dirks and their children, Emma, Tammy and Michaela all of Greeley, Colorado; and Brent and wife Sinae Dirks and their son, Uri of South Korea; his son, LeRoy and wife, Sharon Michael of Holyoke and their children, Katie and husband Ivan Arvizo and their children, Deacon and Danika of Evans, Colorado; and Scott and wife, Shante’ Michael and their sons, Austin and Owen of Eaton, Colorado; and his son Jeff and wife Tricia Michael of Holyoke and their children Kaylee and husband Nick Duvall of Laramie, Wyoming; Aaron Michael of Holyoke and Kyla Steinman of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by his brother Leonard and wife Donna Michael of Holyoke, numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Services were held on Monday, August 10th at the First Baptist Church in Holyoke. Burial was at the Holyoke cemetery. Memorials can be made in the name of Glen Michael to Gideons International, in care of LeRoy Michael, 641 S. Reynolds Avenue, Holyoke, CO 80734.
