Gary L. Snodgrass of Holyoke, CO passed from his earthly home to be with his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, on Saturday June 6, 2026 at the age of 79. He was residing at the Regent Park Care Center at 816 S. Interocean Ave. because of failing health.
Gary was born on May 16, 1947 in Denver, CO. He was then adopted, as an infant, to Manford Owen Snodgrass.
Gary was never married and had no children. He was a wonderful cousin to all 7 of the Meusborn children and many others throughout CO, CA and TX.
Gary served in the US Army during the Vietnam war and did three stints over there. He was wounded while there and received a lifetime monthly medical allowance.
After returning from the service he lived with his dad in Psalm Springs, CA and went through EMT and Firefighting training. He was a full time firefighter and EMT for the Psalm Springs area. I do not know the length of time he served.
Gary was then hired as the full-time maintenance worker for one of the big hospitals in Psalm Springs (not sure of the one he worked for).
For whatever reason Gary got the bug to get in a big rig and drive across country. He started in Psalm Springs driving for Swift then went to work for Warner. After his father passed he moved to Holyoke to be closer to family and went to work for Crete Carrier trucking until he retired at the age of 67.
Gary was a member of the VFW here in Holyoke and was a part of the color guard as long as he was able. He also kept his membership with the DAV but did not have an active group here.
Gary had a huge love for his family and all special friends he considered family. He would do whatever was necessary to help you in a time of need no matter what was going on in his life. He was an active member of the church and had a Great Love of his Lord Jesus Christ. He would listen to the Bible every day that he was able to. He was not one to speak a prayer out loud, but was always to have you pray with him.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Manford “Mutt” Snodgrass and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by us many cousins here in Holyoke and across the US.
There will be a funeral service Friday June 12, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Methodist Church, 230 E Furry St. Holyoke, CO with a military graveside service after at the Holyoke Cemetery. Julius Collins will be officiating and being taken care by Baucke Funeral Home: 1220 SW Interocean Dr. In Holyoke.
