Frank Salvador Obituary

Frank Eugene Salvador was greeted with shouts of joy upon arriving in heaven after leaving this earth on February 18, 2021. Frank was at his winter home in Casa Grande, AZ at the time.

Frank was the third son born to Alice (Sperber) Salvador and Harry Elgin Salvador on April 11, 1936, in Sterling, Colorado. He lived his entire life in the Wages community being brought up in the United Methodist church. He spent his formative years going to the Wages School. As a student, he helped his dad with chores saying that the only thing he liked about milking the cow was practicing Newton’s 1st law of motion on the way back to the house as he swung the pale of milk in a vertical circle without losing a single drop… most of the time with a few epic fails where he ended up with milk all over him and no milk for breakfast for anyone.

Frank attended Haxtun High School in Haxtun and after graduation he moved to Sterling, CO to attend Northeastern Junior College, continuing his education at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He was just a quarter of a credit shy of receiving his bachelors’ degree when he decided to come home to help his dad on the family farm. But in truth, it was because he couldn’t wait to go back to marry the love of his life Janis Joan Cheney of Fleming, CO. They met when they were both children and began dating in 1952.

Frank and Janis joined in marriage on August 3, 1958, they remained completely in love and very affectionate with each other (much to their young children’s chagrin, often acting like teenagers) for nearly 63 years.
Frank and Janis had three children, Brett, Renae and Gaynel.

Frank was an accomplished pianist and vocalist and was often asked to sing at weddings, funerals of other community events.

Frank became a born again, Christian, in the mid-1970s and he continued to grow in his love of the Lord and faith over the years becoming a great witness for Christ both through his music which led to countless concerts held in Yuma and Wages a few times a year. He was even asked to perform at a theatre in Arizona and was given a plaque for his performance.

Frank had such a warm, loving and caring way about him. He was always interested in what everyone had to say and loved hearing about where their lives were taking them.

He felt life was an adventure and ALWAYS was ready for the next one. He loved his farming community and he loved his winters in the warmer climate of Arizona where they often ventured out to Palm Springs, Las Angeles and Mexico. Frank also traveled internationally, to Spain on two occasions and to Morocco additionally.

Frank is survived by his beautiful wife of nearly 63 years, Janis (Cheney) Salvador, son Brett Salvador of Coolidge, Arizona, and Yuma, Colorado, Renae (John) Anderson of the Haxtun Community, and Gaynel (Roger) Tanner of Loveland, Colorado.

Grandchildren Kerstin (Brenda) Krueger of Loveland, Aurielle (Dave) Tanner Kuehl of Washington DC, and Lauren (Dave) Tanner Bourquin of Loveland. Brittany (Ryan) Salvador Kurtzer of Haxtun and Ashley (Dillon) Salvador Harchleroad (Dillon) of Imperial, NE.  Great-grandchildren Quinn, Adley, and Charleigh Kurtzer of Haxtun. Kayden and Kellen Krueger of Loveland.  His many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services in the Casa Grande/Coolidge community will be held in the fall at Robson/Eloy Country Club.
