Frances Pauline Greene

  Frances Pauline Greene was born on September 19, 1927 to Aaron and Lydia Burkart in Stratton, Colorado.  She passed away at Sunrise Assisted living center in Broomfield Colorado on May 23, 2021.  She was 93 and told all her friends and family that she had lived a great life.

  Frances family lived on a farm southeast of Kirk, Colorado.    She graduated from the Kirk High School in 1945.  Shortly after graduation, she took a test that would allow her to teach during the war.  Frances started teaching school in a one room country school in the fall of 1945 and always talked about how much she enjoyed those years.  She stayed in touch with many of the students she taught.

   She dated Donnie Greene and talked him into teaching with her.  They both taught in different one room schools for a couple years.  Frances married Donnie Greene on June 16, 1946 and rented a farm and began farming while they both taught school.  Donnie and Frances had a son, Tim on February 5, 1949, and a daughter, Lael who was born June 16, 1953. They rented their farm for 40 years, before saving enough money to buy their own farm in 1986.  During their years farming and ranching they went from dry land to irrigated circles and developed a large heard of Black Angus cattle.  When Donnie turned 80 Frances convinced him that it was time to sell the cattle.

   After their children graduated from college and got married, she and Donnie began touring the states by bus.  During their travels they were able to visit all 50 states. In December of 2013, they moved to Sunrise Independent Senior Living in Broomfield Colorado.  Frances enjoyed her family, reading, and doing crafts.  Some of her favorite times were family dinners and picnics with her relatives.  She also enjoyed the times that her grandchildren spent time on the farm with her and Donnie.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen; brother, Marion, and husband Donnie. She is survived by her son, Tim, Patty his wife, grandson, Tony and wife Erika, and great-grandsons, Gavin, and Gage; granddaughter, Andrea, and husband Grant Underwood  and great- granddaughters, Sofie and Mia.   Daughter, Lael and husband Steve Etter.  All of whom loved her and will miss her very much.

   A funeral was held to honor her life at the United Methodist Church in Kirk, Colorado with burial at the Kirk Cemetery on May 28, 2021.
