Florence Martha Klinzmann was born on August 18, 1926 to George Paul and Martha Marie (Roggenbuck) Lassen in Yuma, Colorado. She passed away on February 24, 2020 at Devonshire Acres in Sterling, Colorado at the age of 93.
After graduating from High School, Florence attended college where she obtained a teaching degree from Greeley, Colorado. Florence taught school at Burdett, a small country school, in the Lone Star Community.
At a Lone Star Alumni dance, Florence met the love of her life, Adolf Earnest Klinzmann. Florence and Adolf were married on October 25, 1951 at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Yuma, Colorado. To this union seven children were born, Cindy, Patrick, Dan, John, Angie, Mary and Elaine. Florence and Adolf shared thirty-one years together before Adolf passed away on November 29, 1982.
Florence was active in the Altar and Rosary Society, 4-H leader. Later on, she volunteered to serve on Election Day. She was very crafty and shared her talents with the China Painting Club, and Knitting Club. She designed and made children’s furniture. Florence and Adolf travelled to art and craft shows to sell her furniture, china and knitted items.
Florence loved children, she spent her spare time teaching the children of the community along with her own family gardening, wood working, sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, canning along with a multitude of other life skills.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and George Lassen; her husband, Adolf; siblings, George (Sonny) Lassen and Jackie Nickels; son-in-laws, Ronald Dick and Bob Pickett; granddaughter, April Marie Klinzmann and grand daughter-in-law, Michelle Klinzmann.
Florence is survived by her seven children, Cindy Dick of Holdrege, Nebraska; Patrick (Ellen) Klinzmann of Sterling, Colorado; Dan (Christine) Klinzmann of LaPorte, Colorado; John (Marie) Klinzmann of Yuma, Colorado; Angie Pickett of Yuma, Colorado; Mary Klinzmann of Greeley, Colorado and Elaine Klinzmann of Chandler, Arizona; twenty-six grandchildren; a multitude of great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
There was a Rosary on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 6:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. both at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Felician Mbala officiating. Interment followed at the Burdett Cemetery in Otis, Colorado. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
