Edith Marie Meis

Edith Marie Meis was born on September 13, 1927 to Anna Bueltell Meis and Conrad F. Meis.  She was the youngest of 4 brothers and a sister.   She passed July 6, 2023 at the Harmony Home

Edith attended school in Yuma.  She delivered mail for over 40 years retiring in the fall of 2015.

Edith and her sister Cyrilla had a herd of Hereford cattle.  She truly enjoyed her cattle and always reminisced about caring for them.  With her love of animals Edith spent several years as a vet tech to Vic Weickum.

Edith was proud when the home place received the Centennial Farm designation in 2016.  Edith lived her entire life on the home place except for the last 6 months.

Edith was a caregiver.  She cared for her parents in their later years as well as her brother Raymond and her sister Cyrilla in their final years.  

Edith is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Leo, Clatus, Raymond and Norbert, sister Cyrilla, nieces Kathleen and Cecilia and great-niece Crystal.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Sherrie (Don) Hansen, Sandy (Nelson) Taylor, Margaret Meis, Christine Metzler, Joani (Jim) Fischer, Ken (Pam) Meis, Mike Meis, Peggy Meis, Clayton (Peggy) Meis and Julie Meis.  She is also survived by family, cousins and friends.

A funeral mass was held on July 11, 2023 at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Felicien Mbala officiating.  Interment was at the Yuma Cemetery.  Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
