He spent most of his young life around Turpin, OK, but graduated high school from Liberal, KS where he was an avid basketball player.

Ed entered the US Army on February 21, 1946.  He completed basic training at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas.  He was attached to Battery D 51st Antiaircraft Replacement Training Battalion.  While there he came down with Rheumatic Fever.  Edgar was Honorably Discharged on June 21, 1946 from William Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso, Texas.  He received the Victory Medal.

In 1953, he married Christine Still and to that union one daughter was born, Robin Cheree’.  They started their life together in Otis, CO farming and ranching for a couple of decades.  During this time Ed got his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his Cessna.
