Dorelene Ardell Floerke Doddridge, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024. Dorelene was born at home south of Idalia to Fred and Anna (Boden) Floerke on July 27, 1931. She attended her first eight years of school at the one-room country school at Kayton. Dorelene went to High School in Wray where she boarded with Jim and Bertha Funk during the week and went home to the farm on the weekend. She graduated from Wray High School in 1950. In the summer of 1949, she met Eugene Doddridge at a men's baseball game being played in Idalia. The game was between Kirk and Idalia. The two were married on August 2, 1950, at the EUB church in Idalia and enjoyed 59 years together.
Family was at the heart of Dorelene's life. She and Eugene were blessed with four children: Lynn Eugene, Debra Jean, Glen Ray, and Nancy Kay. Dorelene's love knew no bounds; she was a devoted mother who cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether it was attending sporting events, plays, serving as a 4-H leader, keeping a special drawer of cookies for her grandkid’s visits, or simply lending a listening ear, Dorelene's unwavering support and affection left a lasting mark on her family's hearts.
In addition to her devotion to family, Dorelene had many passions and hobbies. She had a love for reading, especially mystery novels, and enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards and games, with popcorn made in a kettle on the stove. Dorelene was also known for her talent in embroidery and her love for solving jigsaw puzzles. She and Eugene shared a passion for travel, exploring the country on bus tours, and creating cherished memories together.
Dorelene's warm and caring nature extended beyond her family circle; she formed strong bonds with friends and cherished the time spent with loved ones. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her.
Dorelene is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Anna Floerke, her husband Eugene Doddridge, her brother Ron Floerke, her daughter-in-law Bev Doddridge (Glen Doddridge), and her grandson Michael Doddridge. Although she will be deeply missed, Dorelene's memory will live on in the hearts of her children Lynn Doddridge (Renada Doddridge), Debbie Thompson (Bill Thompson), Glen Doddridge, Nancy Allen (Gerald Allen), her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Jamie Meyette (Nate), Kyla Antony (Trent, Adilynn, & Taden), Stephanie Thompson, Scott Doddridge (Laura, Riley, & Ryah), John Doddridge (Kevin, Natalie, Addison, & Javen), Lindy Kolibaba (Ryan, Brendan, & Zachary), Jackie Seyler (Micah), Cody Allen, Jeremy Allen (Gladys Allen & Jeremy Jr.).
As we bid farewell to Dorelene, we take comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind and the love she shared with all who knew her. Her spirit of kindness, warmth, and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
