Dewey Lindgren of Holyoke passed away June 14, 2021, at the age of 95. Dewey was born on October 27, 1925 to Dewey Carl and Laura Claudia (Miller) Lindgren on the family farm northwest of Holyoke. He was baptized into the Catholic faith and a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holyoke.
Dewey attended school in the Fairfield community for 10 years. He graduated from Phillips County High School in Holyoke in 1943. He served in the Army Infantry during WW2 and participated in the invasion of Okinawa and occupation of Korea and was a member of the V.F.W.
In 1947, he was united in marriage to Lillian Sagehorn of Holyoke. To this union three children were born; Barry, Steven and Alan (died Nov. 1974). Dewey was a farmer all his working life. He loved to fly and flew until he was 70. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed traveling. He visited every state of the U.S. and 30 countries of the world.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Lillian; sons, Barry of Boulder, CO and Steve of Holyoke, CO; 2 grandchildren; Elizabeth Holman and husband Carolus of Dallas, Texas; Warren Lindgren and wife Mendi of Erie, CO; 3 great-grandchildren; Isabelle Holman, Holden Lindgren and Hayden Lindgren.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, son Alan, brother Gerald, sisters Laura Lu Radke and Barbara Boone.
Viewing will be from 4-6pm Thursday, June 17th at the Baucke funeral home.
Funeral service will be held Friday, June 18th 10:00am at Saint Patrick Catholic Church. Internment will follow at the Holyoke cemetery.
