Deloris Fisher Obituary

Deloris Marie Fisher passed away peacefully on April 26, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer.  She was born at home on December 14, 1936, in Peavine, Oklahoma to Troy and Madge Clinton. The family moved from Oklahoma to California and then settled in Colorado. Deloris came to Holyoke as a foster child, living first with Harold and Mabel Jenkins, and then Clifford and Maxine Smith before her marriage to Robert (Bob) Fisher in 1953. Deloris and Bob lived in Holyoke until 1972 when they moved to Steamboat Springs where Bob worked for Yampa Valley Electric. Deloris earned her certification as a nursing assistant and worked in the extended care center at Routt Memorial Hospital, taking care of residents, a job she thoroughly loved. She was also very active in the Steamboat Springs Assembly of God Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She and Bob loved mountain living and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. Due to Bob’s declining health, they returned to Holyoke in the late 90’s. After Bob’s death, Deloris volunteered at the Melissa Memorial Hospital and was also active in the Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in her yard, crocheting, embroidery, baking, and taking care of her pets. After a fall in 2022, she moved to Belle Plaine, Kansas and lived with her daughter, Debbie. She resided in Mulvane KS at Maria Court, an assisted living facility, for 2 months prior to her death.

Deloris courageously battled skin cancer the last 14 years of her life, as giving up was not in her nature. She was an inspiration to those who loved her, not only for her courage but for her faith.

Deloris was predeceased by her parents; her husband Bob; sisters Betty Baker and Shirley Glover; brother Charles Hearn; and granddaughter Lisa Hickman. She is survived by daughters Deborah (Charles) Hickman; Barbara (Stan) Kreider; Diana (Steve) Kafka; grandchildren Jennifer (Hickman) Hughes; Nathan Kafka; Seth Kreider; Summer Kreider; Zachary Kreider; and Isaac Kreider; 6 great-grandchildren; and her beloved kitty, Lulu.
