David Williamson Obituary

David Corman Williamson, age 79, of Holyoke, Colorado, passed away on July 8, 2025, at Swedish Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle to recover from strokes. Born on February 15, 1946, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to David and Olive (Corman) Williamson, Dave spent his childhood in Pueblo, Colorado, where he developed a passion for hunting alongside his brother, Wally, providing venison for their family’s table. His love for motorcycles and cars also took root during these early years.

After high school, Dave served in the National Guard and began working for R.A. Waffensmith & Company, an electrical contracting firm. His work brought him to Holyoke, where he met the love of his life, Linda Sullivan. Choosing love over the next job, Dave stayed in Holyoke and married Linda on February 9, 1969. Together, they raised three children: Tancy, Lacey, and Levi.

Dave’s strong work ethic and love for his family defined his life. He worked for KN Energy, co-owned Hard Rock Concrete, and later drove trucks for Scholl Oil & Transportation. Alongside his wife, Dave briefly relocated the family to Phoenix, Arizona, to drive for a concrete company but returned to Holyoke after a year, missing family and friends. He later partnered with Jeff and Olga Sullivan, and then Jim Leibbrandt, to operate Sullivan’s Appliance & Air, which he ran until his retirement in 2018 at age 72.

Known for his tireless dedication, Dave worked six days a week and spent the rest of his time repairing this and that, maintaining the lawn, or helping relatives and friends. His customers at Sullivan’s cherished his candid conversations during appliance installations and repairs. A volunteer firefighter, Dave never stood idle when work needed doing, instilling this ethic in his children by example. His passion for hunting continued into his 70s, often shared with his son Levi, with whom he created cherished memories, including the tradition of presenting Linda with a deer in the garage as a birthday gift.

Dave loved rock’n’roll and blues music, black coffee, and IPA beer.  In retirement he discovered a love for reading fiction novels, especially John Grisham.

Dave’s love for his family was boundless. He fussed over the maintenance of their vehicles and ensured their needs were met, whether they welcomed his reminders or not.  He could be found attending all his grandchildren’s sporting events, band concerts, and other activities.  A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dave’s care extended to his wife, Linda; children, Tancy King of Holyoke, CO, Lacey Williamson of New Castle, CO, and Levi and Karin Williamson of Sterling, CO; and grandchildren, Preston David King of Denver, CO, Madison King of Centennial, CO, Mason King of Holyoke, CO, and Evan and Jack David Williamson of Sterling, CO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, David and Olive Williamson, and his brother, Wally.

A man of faith, Dave knew and loved Jesus, hoping above all that his children and grandchildren would share that faith. He was a rare example of a “manly man” who loved and cared deeply for others. His presence will be profoundly missed.
