Dale Edward Reyher

Dale Edward Reyher, 94, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026 at Regent Park in Holyoke, CO.  Dale was born February 25, 1932 in Haxtun, CO to Fred and Lena (Hueftle) Reyher.

Dale graduated from Haxtun High School in 1950, enlisted in the Marines and served from 1950 to1954 as a Sargent and was honorably discharged October 24, 1954.

When he was home from leave, he had met Evelyn Westerman at the local café. After returning to Haxtun, the two were married October 30,1955 and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Together they farmed southeast of Haxtun and lived in the house that Dale grew up in and raised their 4 children – Douglas, Dallas, Danette and Deann.

Dale enjoyed the farming, spending time with family and grandchildren whether it was celebrating the holidays, birthdays or a family BBQ.  You could also count on him making a trip to Haxtun weekly or maybe more often to enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation at the Barlo café or C-mart with friends. Dale and Evelyn spent time traveling to numerous destinations and on some occasions would try to stop in and see a relative along the way. 

Dale was especially known as Uncle Dale not just with family but to many that lived in the Highland Center Community as well.  He enjoyed playing cards wherever there was a game. Dale was an active member of the American Legion Post #137 for many years.

Dale is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his children; Douglas, of Cottonwood, CA; granddaughter-Janae Reyher of Anderson, CA;  Dallas (Deanna), of Custer, SD; grandson-Kendall Reyher of Hot Springs, SD; Danette (Pat) Vasa of Holyoke, CO, granddaughter-Jacklyn Vasa of Papillion, NE and grandson-Brent (Miranda) Vasa, great granddaughter-Harper of Lincoln, NE; and Deann (Heath) Weiss, of Haxtun, CO; grandson-Tyler Weiss of Holyoke, CO and grandson-Casey Weiss of Greeley, CO along with many other relative and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lena Reyher, sister Dorothy Barkey and parent in-laws John and Lena Westerman.
