Dale Lee Chaplin

Dale (Bugs) Lee Chaplin, 77, of Yuma, Colorado died on March 16, 2021 at Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado.

     Dale was born on July 30, 1943 in the Yuma Community Hospital to Arlie and Margaret Chaplin.  He was welcomed home by 2 brothers.  HIs brother Steve nicknamed him Bubby and the neighborhood kids could not pronounce that and they fondly started calling him Bugs.  He was a student in the Yuma schools and graduated from Yuma High School with the class of 1961.  

    After graduation, he was employed by Yuma Plumbing and Heating, working with his dad. In 1963 Baucke Electric needed some extra hands to wire Yuma’s High Plains Manor so Dale decided to go to work alongside his brother Steve. He also worked in Wray for Brophy Electric for a couple of years.  In 1971 Dale got his Master Electrician license.  He and his brother Steve opened Chaplin Electric in 1972.  Steve passed away in 2004 and Dale continued to work until his retirement in December 2007. 

     Dale enjoyed his retirement and stayed busy going to the Main Event for breakfast.  He was often seen walking around Yuma, clocking several miles a day.  Dale spent a lot of time working in his yard, but he received most of his enjoyment by visiting with his friends.  His positive attitude and smile will be remembered by all who were close to him.

     His parents, Arlie and Margaret, brothers Louis Cowart II and his wife Shirley and brother Steve preceded him in death.  He is survived by cousins Bonnie Sabaj, Judy Young and long time employee and friend Gena Korf, and her husband Greg and children Jamie, Jordan and Luke.  

     A memorial service will be held at the Yuma Cemetery on May 8th, 2021 at 10am.
