On December 5, 1943 the prayers of Frank and Nina (Tenney) Rueter were answered. Clark Meredith Rueter arrived to the delight of his parents. He passed away at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke, CO on May 3, 2024.
The family farmed in McCook, Ne area until Clark was in the fifth grade. They moved everything including the farm equipment in a borrowed truck to their new home in Haxtun, Co making a few trips but thrilled with their new beginnings.
Clark attended elementary and high school in Haxtun graduating in 1963. The family made trips every summer up Poudre Canyon to Rustic. It was there that Clark began his love of fishing and hunting. Many worms were drowned in Seven Mile Creek and Poudre River.
Following graduation Clark worked for a furniture manufacturing company in Denver. He raided the trash dumpster bringing home the off cuts. Using that discarded wood he made a fence for his home. He bragged to friends that he had the only solid maple border fence in Denver. It was still standing a couple of years ago and his handiwork held up to the test of time.
In 1981 Clark married Francies Ehrlich The family was made complete with her daughters Lani and Dawn. They made their home east of Haxtun.
Clark and Fran loved to play cards and spent most Sundays evenings playing 10 point pitch with his parents before their passing. They used “Rueter Family Rules”, of course. That would get you thrown out of anyone else's game for cheating.
Clark enjoyed planting a large garden. He didn‘t enjoy the weeding as much and that job fell to Fran. Harvest was for both of them. Sharing the fresh vegetables was a joy they shared.
Clark was preceded in death by his wife Fran, parents Frank and Nina Rueter, mother-in-law
Alta Curtis, Grand son Andy Barber, aunts Mae Beckerand Edna Voseipka.
He is survived by step Daughters Dawn Yack (Harlan Ruch), Lani (Steven) McPhie, grandchildren Cody Barber, Shad Schwartz ( Jenessa) and their children Kyra, Xzander, CJ Callie Schwartz, and great grandchildren Oliver IV, Haidee, Maylee Gerbitz, Makayla Chartier ( Allen) and great granddaughter Maylae Schwartz.
